西菲律宾海盆I8孔黏土矿物的物源分析

The provenance of clay minerals in core I8 from the West Philippine Basin

摘要: 应用X-射线衍射(XRD)方法分析了菲律宾海盆西部I8柱状样35个沉积物样品中的黏土矿物组分,结果表明:I8孔中黏土矿物以伊利石(40%)为主,蒙皂石(28%)和绿泥石(20%)次之,高岭石(12%)相对较低,且伊利石结晶度较好。黏土矿物来源分析表明,伊利石主要来源于亚洲大陆的风尘输入;蒙皂石主要源于研究样品周围火山物质的蚀变;而绿泥石和高岭石可能主要源自吕宋岛风化产物。

Abstract: Clay mineral compositions of 35 samples in core I8 recovered from the West Philippine Basin were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. The results show that the clay mineral assemblages in core I8 consist dominantly of illite (40%), with a lesser abundance of smectite (28%) and chlorite (20%), as well as a low amount of kaolinite (12%), and illite has good crystallinity. The source analysis of clay minerals indicate that the high contents of illite may come from the input of Asian dust, while smectite may be contributed by the nearby ocean bottom volcanoes, and weathering product from Luzon may play the most important role in providing chlorite and kaolinite.
